Our Story

Sunnyside Egg Co.

Backyard Flock

Victoria and Patrick Samuels started Sunnyside Egg Company after leaving the military and purchasing a small, nine-acre farm in Western Kentucky. They began the operation with 50 chickens in small mobile coops. The flock quickly grew to 300 and they upgraded to the solar-powered chicken house pictured above. Those 300 hens were the foundation of a vision to make regeneratively raised eggs available nationwide.

Mini-Manifesto

American agriculture will not depart from conventional, factory farming to regenerative practices without innovation, competition, and happy healthy customers. Farmers markets are a social club, not an effective means to modify nationwide farming practices. Alternatively, big corporations owned by private equity investors and bankers do not concern themselves with the desires of customers nor the welfare of land and animal.

Sunnyside Egg Company was founded to push back against both ends of the spectrum. By focusing on the needs of folks eating our eggs, quality of life for our farmers, and the welfare of our hens, we are building a network of small, family farms to make regeneratively raised eggs available in grocery stores where you already shop.

Regenerative farming is no longer a fringe or niche idea concentrated on individual farms. This is the future of agriculture.
